Officials said five people were rescued from the second floor of the building as crews battled the fire. The five people were checked and treated at the scene for smoke inhalation and there were no transports to the hospital.3 month ago

Officials said one of the chemicals burning is butadiene. The chemical will evaporate into the air, even from water or dirt, and will break down quickly in sunlight. According to Americanchemistry.com, “environmental sources include industrial releases from butadiene production and use, automobile exhaust, cigarette smoke and other combustion sources.”
The explosion from the TPC Group Plant blew the door hinges off this rental property on Merriman Street. Glass from broken picture frames is scattered across the floor

These are pictures of a home in the Hebert Woods neighborhood, about a half mile from the TPC plant in Port Neches, where the explosion occurred earlier. The front door was blown off the hinges, insulation fell from ceiling, windows shattered and garage door damaged.
